Our Story
Yoro is a self-taught wardrobe stylist, costumer, and jewelry designer known for her bold, creative eye. She’s the founder of Black Creatives in the Lou™️ and Fashion Friendzy™️, curating fashion-forward shopping experiences and styling events at boutiques, department stores, and private venues. Her annual Black History Month showcases attract hundreds of style lovers. Yoro’s award-winning designs have graced films, magazines, red carpets, and runways. Passionate about connecting communities through fashion, she continues to grow her platform and inspire through style. She believes that everyone has Grace and Style!

As a highly sought out award winning Jewelry designer, wardrobe stylist and Art exhibit curator from St. Louis, Yolanda (Yoro) Newson is the visionary behind Yoro Creations, YoroStyles and Black Creatives in the Lou. Her jewelry pieces have been worn and featured on Film sets, celebrities, on runways and in multiple publications to date. As a personal and wardrobe stylist, she has multiple accolades under her belt from working with the great Jenifer Lewis to being the lead wardrobe stylist for Film Camp USA. Her commitment to community and ability to bring people together is her gift as well as her dedication and willingness to actively participate in improving the well-being of the local creatives like herself. She contributes hundreds of hours and, resources, and efforts towards addressing local issues, promoting social cohesion, and building stronger relationships between individuals and groups within her community. Her work ethic is impeccable and her commitment to quality and service is second to none Yoro’s motto is: We were all created by the Creator to be creative so live creatively in style!

SUMMER CAMP 2024 Manitowa Nation is counting down the days until our campers arrive and we again start making memories to last a lifetime. Our small, intimate 40-acre property is ideal for helping kids feel safe and comfortable. We’ll have about 100 campers each session which allows kids to make friends quickly and become an important person in our overall camp family. We’d love for your family to be a part of the Camp Manitowa family next summer!
Get Outdoors in Southern Illinois We believe everyone can use some time away these days. Camp Manitowa offers families, groups, and individuals an opportunity to get out of the house, get out of the city, and get into nature.
Our midwest camp property in Benton Illinois is open for a variety camping opportunities. We limit the number of groups in camp at one time to maintain a feeling of exclusion. We provide the greatest opportunity for everyone to stay safe, have fun, and we adhere to state and industry guidelines. We offer yurts and heated cabins throughout the year with access to our programs and activities along with all that Rend Lake has to offer.
